Valentin Royer vs Sebastian Baez prediction
Valentin Royer makes the main draw of the European Open as a lucky loser after losing in the second stage of qualifying to Gilles Arnaud Bailly. Despite that surprise loss, the last few weeks have been really encouraging for the Frenchman. He made it all the way to the final in Hangzhou, his first on the ATP Tour, after getting through qualifying. He then qualified to compete at a Masters 1000 in Shanghai, making the second-round and battling well against world number three Alexander Zverev, where he lost in straight sets.
Sebastian Baez’s poor form continued in Asia as he could only win one match out of three. He was defeated by world number one Carlos Alcaraz in round one of Tokyo and then lost in the second-round of the Shanghai Masters to Holger Rune after getting past Zhizhen Zhang. Baez has just three wins from 12 hard court matches this year and his form has massively dropped off ever since he made the final of the Bucharest Open in April.
Royer will be confident of a strong performance against Baez, who has struggled for a considerable period at this point.
