Valentin Royer vs Marcos Giron prediction

Valentin Royer has found form at the right time, as he won a Challenger event in Kingston on the eve of the Winston-Salem Open. Royer has just one tour-level victory this season, but he will take a lot of confidence from how he performed at that event. He has moved back inside the top 80 of the world rankings. 

Royer faces Marcos Giron. The American failed to qualify for the Cincinnati Open after a defeat to Henrique Rocha, while he also suffered a surprising straight sets loss to Cruz Hewitt in Washington at the end of last month. Giron produce some of his best tennis at the start of the season, highlighted by semi-final runs at back-to-back events in Hong Kong and Auckland, but his North American summer swing has not gone according to plan.

There looks to be very little separating the pair, with Royer’s improving hard court game making hm a genuine threat despite Giron’s greater experience at this level. The American’s recent form has been difficult to trust, so Royer may just have enough to edge what looks like a tight contest.
