The Hangzhou final must seem a long time ago for Valentin Royer. 

The Frenchman has struggled for form ever since finishing as runner-up there back in September and has won just once in his last 11 outings. 

The world number 60 now takes on his compatriot Benjamin Bonzi looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their head-to-head.

Bonzi is down in 111th spot after drifting from 47 in the world as recently as Shanghai in October. The 29-year-old has found the winning habit with deep runs in Challengers but hasn’t won on tour for five months. 

It makes this an important one for both players with bragging rights also on the line. Neither player will want to lose and they could well split sets before facing off at the death.
