Ugo Humbert breezed past Adrian Mannarino to make it through to the second-round of the French Open. Humbert won 85% of his first serve points as he defeated his compatriot 6-3 6-4 6-3 after exactly two hours. That made it three wins from his last four matches, as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the Hamburg Open last week.
He takes on another Frenchman in round two as he goes up against Quentin Halys. The 29-year-old won his first-round match at Roland Garros for the second straight year as he beat Mattia Bellucci in straight sets. It was a largely comfortable win for Halys, though he did have to fight back from 3-0 down in the second set as he broke Bellucci when the Italian was serving to level the match up. Halys won 6-3 7-6 (4) 6-3.
Humbert will start as the favourite, but if Halys serves well enough and maintains his first-strike power, he should be able to cause some problems of his own.
