Ugo Humbert vs Denis Shapovalov prediction
Ugo Humbert began his grass court season with a run to the semi-finals of the Libema Open. He defeated Dan Evans and Nuno Borges but would lose to Gabriel Diallo in the last four. This was a still decent tournament for Humbert, who seems to have shrugged off the injury problems that have been causing him some discomfort over the last few months.
He takes on Denis Shapovalov in the first-round here. Shapovalov got off to a poor start on grass, as he lost in the first-round of the Stuttgart Open to Arthur Rinderknech in three sets. The Canadian’s serve completely deserted him in set three as he fell to a 6-4 2-6 6-0 defeat. He barely threatened on the clay and has struggled for form ever since the middle of February after winning the Dallas Open and reaching the semi-finals in Acapulco.
They’ve played on five previous occasions, with Shapovalov leading the head-to-head 3-2. However this will be their first match on grass and Humbert did win their last meeting in the second-round of Indian Wells two years ago. Shapovalov can still be effective on grass and will go on the offensive but Humbert should have enough quality to make it through.
Ugo Humbert vs Denis Shapovalov tip: Ugo Humbert to win 2-1
