Ugo Humbert vs Christopher O’Connell prediction

Ugo Humbert reached his second quarter-final of the season after defeating Guy Den Ouden in straight sets. He converted all four of his break point opportunities as he won 6-4 6-3. Humbert suffered a surprising loss to Adrian Mannarino in Montpellier last week, but his level has been strong so far in Rotterdam, as he also beat former world number Daniil Medvedev in the previous round. 

Christopher O’Connell is his next opponent after he beat Cameron Norrie. O’Connell was broken early on but responded by breaking in the sixth game to get the match back on serve. The set would go to a lengthy tiebreak, with O’Connell saving a set point and finally converting one of his after three previously failed attempts. He broke in the first game of the second and that proved to be the difference as he wrapped up a 7-6 (9) 6-4 win.

The head-to-head is 1-1 after two matches on clay, but Humbert has a fantastic indoors record and he will be the commanding favourite to get through.
