Ugo Humbert produced a brilliant performance as he swept aside Tallon Griekspoor to reach the last eight in Adelaide. Humbert went behind early after being broken in his very first service game, but he dominated after that, breaking serve on four occasions to win 6-4 6-1 after one hour and 18 minutes.
He faces Alexander Shevchenko next. The world number 104 was not broken on serve and won 87% of his first serve points as he won 6-3 7-6 (6) against Marton Fucsovics. Shevchenko created opportunities on a consistent basis but could only convert one break point out of a possible 10 in the match, and he will need to be more potent if he is to stand a chance against Humbert.
The Frenchman leads the head-to-head 2-0 after previous wins in Metz and at Wimbledon. Humbert has not dropped a set at the event so far and is the commanding favourite.
