Tomas Martin Etcheverry made it back-to-back semi-finals on the ATP Tour as he defeated Jaime Faria in straight sets. Faria had beaten two-time defending champion Sebastian Baez on his way to the last eight and threatened here, but Etcheverry was solid on serve and won 7-6 (4) 6-4.
He now takes on Vit Kopriva for a place in the final. Kopriva continued his good run as he beat Juan Manuel Cerundolo in straight sets. He did not even concede a break point on serve and broke at the start of both sets to win 6-4 6-4. The Czech has not dropped a set in any of his three previous matches.
Etcheverry will start as the favourite, but Kopriva has looked dangerous all week, with every aspect of his game working well at the moment. There is strong value in this semi-final going the distance, with both players eyeing up a first final of the season.
