Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Dalibor Svrcina prediction

Tomas Martin Etcheverry’s losing run extended to three matches after a three set loss to former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first-round of the Japan Open. Etcheverry began well but slowly lost control as he was beaten 4-6 6-3 6-4. Etcheverry has suffered opening round defeats at five of his last six tournaments, but he did impress at the US Open by advancing to the round-of-16.

He receives a bye in the first-round and now faces Dalibor Svrcina. The Czech won his opening match after a win over Cameron Norrie. He looked to be on course for a comfortable victory after winning the first set and going 3-1 up in the second, but the Brit reeled off five games in a row to level proceedings. Both players traded breaks at the start of the decider, but it was Svrcina who struck the fatal blow as he broke again in the seventh game and closed it out to win 6-3 3-6 6-4. 

Aside from his run in New York, Etcheverry has struggled to progress beyond the early rounds of tournaments for some time, which should give Svrcina plenty of encouragement.
