Tomas Martin Etchevery qualified for the tournament after two comfortable wins over Pedro Martinez and Jesper de Jong. Over the past month, the Argentine reached back-to-back quarter-finals in Hangzhou and Shanghai, along with a second-round finish in Vienna after a loss to Lorenzo Musetti. Camilo Ugo Carabaelli is his opponent. Overall, he has lost seven of his last eight matches, and that includes a heavy defeat to Etcheverry in the first-round of the US Open.
