Adrian Mannarino continued his excellent recent form with a dominant victory over Jordan Thompson.

The veteran Frenchman made a mockery of the difference in ranking as he despatched the Aussie 6-2 6-2.

Next up, the 37-year-old faces 19th seed Tomas Machac and if their previous meeting is anything to go by, he’ll be quietly confident of producing another upset.

The world number 89 sank the Czech 6-1 6-2 at Indian Wells last year and will feel he is in much better form right now. 

For Machac, the tournament represents a chance to move back towards breaking into the top 20 after an indifferent run of late.

The fast conditions should aid the 24-year-old’s big-hitting game, but it’s tough to keep dismissing Mannarino’s threat given the results he has put together of late.
