Toby Samuel vs Juan Manuel Cerundolo prediction
Toby Samuel notched up his first tour-level win and advanced to his first ATP quarter-final after he got past Thiago Agustin Tirante in straight sets. Samuel had attempted to qualify for the tournament but initially missed out on a place in the main draw after a three set defeat to Roland Garros semi-finalist Matteo Arnaldi. However, the Brit was awarded a spot in the round-of-16 following the withdrawal of Queen’s Club champion Francisco Cerundolo. Samuel made a flying start and went on to win 6-1 7-6 (7) after an hour and 23 minutes.
He will now face Francisco’s brother Juan Manuel for a place in the semi-finals. The Argentine reached his sixth quarter-final of the campaign after getting past Arthur Fery in straight sets. Cerundolo won 6-2 7-6 (2).
Samuel will take a lot of confidence from that victory, but Cerundolo has made real strides this season and rightfully starts as a firm favourite.
