Thiago Agustin Tirante reached the quarter-finals of the Rio Open last week before a three set loss to Alejandro Tabilo, blown away in the final set. The Argentine put in an impressive performance to hammer Aleksandar Vukic at the Australian Open before a loss to Tommy Paul in straight sets in the first Grand Slam of the year.
Ignacio Buse managed to go one step further than his opponent as the Peruvian qualified for the semi-finals of the Rio Open before succumbing to a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Alejandro Tabilo. Buse was on the Challenger Tour 2025 but has already won four matches in two tournaments on the ATP Tour in 2026.
Neither of these two would have expected to get knocked out in the first round but one will go and, while it may be an even contest, Buse is the slight favourite in Santiago.
