Thiago Agustin Tirante made it through all three qualifying stages to reach the main draw of the French Open. He lost just one set on the way but squeezed his way past Ethan Quinn 6-3 4-6 7-6 in the third round of the qualifiers. He mainly competes on the Challenger Tour and his best result of the season was winning the Cordoba Challenger title in February, though his recent form has been less inspiring.
Damir Dzumhur found some form in March as he made the final of the Copa Cap Cana on the Challenger Tour and then made a strong transition onto the clay with a semi-final appearance in Zadar but was forced to retire. He reached another semi-final in Bucharest a week later but he’s been unable to replicate that kind of form since the beginning of April.
Tirante won their only previous match in the semi-final of the Trieste Challenger back in 2021. Despite being around 50 places down in the rankings, the Argentine will be full of confidence after his wins in qualifying. We can see this one going all the way with Dzumhur coming out on top.
