Yoshihito Nishioka will be pleased to be back in a run of hard court tournaments having endured poor fortune on other surfaces. 

The Japanese world number 131 has won just one of his last 11 matches while all seven of his tour level victories in 2025 have come on a hard court.

Next up, the 29-year-old meets a Frenchman six years his junior and just one place behind him in the rankings, but Nishioka will take confidence from the fact he leads the head-to-head 2-0. 

Both previous matches were also on hard courts and they both went the distance, but it is worth noting that Atmane has managed just one tour-level win this year and that was on the clay of Umag recently. 

All signs point to another Nishioka win here with his love for North American hard courts likely to be key as well as the fact he has had the edge in their other encounters.
