THE PREDICTION
25-year-old Tim van Rijthoven enjoyed the summer of his life this season with a miraculous run to a maiden ATP title on his tour debut at home tournament ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The Dutchman beat the likes of Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev in his first five tour-level matches and then extended his winning streak to eight at Wimbledon before a four-set defeat to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. It remains to be seen what Van Rijthoven can do away from the grass but he comes in with little hardcourt practice in his legs and world number 137 Zhizhen Zhang will be a challenge after qualifying without dropping a set. The 25-year-old will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 120th after reaching three-successive Challenger finals and backing him with some qualifying momentum to win at least a set here looks reasonable. If you can take both players to win at least a set, do so, but otherwise it is bets to wait and see how Van Rijthoven plays.
