26-year-old Zhizhen Zhang will break the top 100 on tour for a first time after an excellent straight-sets victory over Sebastian Baez on Thursday, via two fiercely contested tiebreaks. World number 74 McDonald looks the favourite here, though, after claiming one of the best wins of his career on Thursday in ousting third-seed Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets. The 27-year-old lost to Lorenzo Musetti at this stage of the Firenze Open this time last week to reach back-to-back quarter-finals on tour in form that looks to have come straight from winning his first Men’s Doubles title at the Japan Open earlier this month. The American should be coming through this tough first encounter with Zhang but an outright call is the sensible move, perhaps even taking at least a set if you include this match in an accumulator.
