26-year-old Yuriko Miyazaki won the first WTA tour match of her career on Tuesday, beating Magdalena Frech in three sets after scraping through the Nottingham Open qualifiers. Miyazaki will break her career-high WTA world ranking of 199th set back in March with one more win and she fares a small chance at another upset with the home crowd behind her on Thursday. Seventh seed Beatriz Haddad-Maia had to come back from a set down to beat Qiang Wang on Tuesday and the Brazilian is not known for her prowess on grass. Haddad-Maia remains the clear favourite to come through this round of 16 clash, though, making the sensible call taking the world number 48 to win outright. Three sets could be the valuable alternative here, given both players’ openers, but it would be a risk.
