THE PREDICTION

World number 77 Emma Raducanu beat Moyuka Uchijama in straight sets on Wednesday to get her Korea Open campaign underway. The 19-year-old has managed to win back-to-back matches at just three tournaments this season so far but after dropping down the WTA rankings since the anniversary of her US Open win she will have more opportunity to build against lower-ranked opponents at this level. World number 460 Yanina Wickmayer has already ousted one youngster this week after stunning last weekend’s Chennai Open champion Linda Fruhvirtova in straight sets on Wednesday. The former world number 12 has failed to win back-to-matches on tour anywhere this season, although she has enjoyed some success on the ITF circuit. This could be choppy in places as Raducanu continues to struggle with maintaining her high-ceiling tennis but the Brit should be able to reach the quarter-finals here.
