21-year-old Xiyu Wang will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 76th no matter the outcome of this semi-final after she stunned Victoria Azarenka in straight sets on Friday. The Chinese prospect has found some excellent form in recent weeks, with another huge result over Barbra Krejcikova at the Hungarian Open last month taking her to the quarter-finals there. World number 60 Liudmila Samsonova is a much better player than her current ranking depicts and she proved it in a straight-sets victory over the returning Emma Raducanu. The Russian is through to her second semi-final this season after a three-set defeat to Iga Swiatek at the Stuttgart Open back in April that could have gone either way and if she finds that level this should lean her way. Back Samsonova to win at least a set in this first meeting between the two and leave the winner up to chance.
