XINYU WANG VS JULE NIEMEIER PREDICTION
World number 39 Xinyu Wang looked up against it in her first Roland-Garros fixture with Taylor Townsend but she will have to recalibrate well to face qualifier Jule Niemeier now. 22-year-old Wang reached the round of 16 at the US Open last summer to prove her potential on her favoured hardcourts but she has struggled to make much of a dent on clay so far in her young career.
24-year-old Jule Niemeier knows all about the pressure of deep runs at Grand Slams after she fabulously reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon three years ago. The German has failed to push on since that huge summer, despite occasional bursts of promise, but she possesses a hammer forehand that should one day see her a top 30 player at least.
Niemeier reached the semi-finals of the Parma Challenger last week before an excellent qualifying campaign in Paris and she beat Wang in straight sets at the Madrid Open last clay swing. Back the German to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
