Former world number one Victoria Azarenka is a two-time Grand Slam champion after winning back-to-back majors at the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013. The 32-year-old more recently finished runner-up at the US Open to Naomi Osaka in 2020, the same year she won the most recent of her 21 WTA titles at the Western & Southern Open. Azarenka also finished runner-up at the US Open in 2012 and 2013, with her best result at Roland-Garros semi-final exit in 2013.
World number 91 Ana Bogdan reached the third round of Roland-Garros last season, emulating her best showing at a Grand Slam after making the third round at the Australian Open back in 2018. The Romanian has enjoyed some solid results on clay in recent weeks but a first meeting with Azarenka likely heading in one direction.
