THE PREDICTION
World number eight Karolina Pliskova finally found some decent form on tour with a run to the semi-finals at the Strasbourg Open ended by Kaja Juvan on Friday. The 30-year-old missed the first few months this year through injury and she has struggled to impose herself ever since, although she claimed back-to-back matches for the first time this season in Strasbourg. Pliskova has twice finished runner-up at Grand Slams, including last year at Wimbledon to Ash Barty, and she set her best showing at Roland-Garros with a semi-final exit in 2017.
French wildcard Tessah Andrianjafitrimo will likely never have a better opportunity to beat a former world number one than right now, with Pliskova still far from her best, most imperious level. The 23-year-old is up to a career-high world number 142 after some decent work on the ITF circuit and she will be backed to the hilt by however much of a crowd she receives as a young home underdog. Taking the Frenchwoman to win at least a set is a really tempting option here but Pliskova should be too good not to eventually win the match.
