World number 101 Taro Daniel came through the qualifiers handily in Atlanta and he brought that momentum into a huge comeback victory over Sebastian Korda on Monday. The 29-year-old is a better player than his ranking suggests but he has struggled to out together consistent performances practically ever since winning his only ATP title at the 2018 Istanbul Open. World number 29 Frances Tiafoe comes in a little cold as the fourth seed with his last match a bruising round of 16 defeat to David Goffin at Wimbledon earlier this month. The 24-year-old looks hungry for more this season but it could take some time settling into on what will be his first hardcourt match since late March at the Miami Open. Three sets seem likely and it could be the shrewd move to back Daniel to win at least one set here given his results so far, even if Tiafoe ends up winning.
