World number 13 Belinda Bencic is the second seed at her home tournament in Lausanne but she survived an early scare against an improving Diane Parry on Tuesday, coming back from a set down to beat the Frenchwoman in three. 25-year-old Bencic recently finished runner-up to Ons Jabeur at the Berlin Open after having to retire in the second round through injury but she claimed the sixth WTA title of her career at the Charleston Open back in April – her first on clay. 24-year-old wildcard Susan Bandecchi ousted Oceane Dodin in straight sets on Monday but this should be several rungs of the ladder too high against her fellow Swiss. A first tour meeting between the two could have some pitfalls for Bencic, especially against a player who will know her game well, but realistically the former world number four should be taking this in two.
