World number five Stefanos Tsitsipas survived an excellent fight from home hopeful Mikael Ymer on Friday to beat the Swede in two sets, backing-up an impressive two-tiebreak victory over Maxime Cressy. The 24-year-old finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic at the Astana Open last weekend and victories over the likes of Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev there suggest he is the solid favourite to reach the final here in Stockholm, let alone win his third title in 2022 on Sunday. World number 52 Emil Ruusuvuori can be a tricky customer at his best, though, and he provided the shock of the tournament to beat in-form Frances Tiafoe comfortably on Friday. The Finn did Tsitsipas in knocking out Tiafoe, who holds some kind of power over the Greek, but despite his abilities it would be a surprise to see him take the top seed’s first set this week.
