World number 81 Soonwoo Kwon ousted Fernando Verdasco in four sets on Tuesday for a steady opener and the Korean, also 24, proved himself a tough battler at this level earlier this season with two five-set matches in the first two rounds. This is, remarkably, the fourth meeting this season between Rublev and Kwon, with the Russian leading their head-to-head 3-0 after a four-set encounter in the first round at Roland-Garros. Two of their three matches have seen sets go both ways, so back the 9th seed to win outright.
