Former world number 13 Nick Kyrgios moved back inside the top 40 this week after winning the Washington Open for a second time in three seasons, beating Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets on Sunday. The 27-year-old is probably in the form of his unorthodox career with a first Grand Slam final reached at Wimbledon last month lost in a competitive battle with Novak Djokovic the pinnacle so far, although three Men’s Doubles titles from the Australian Open and Atlanta Open alongside Thanasi Kokkinakis and from the Citi Open last week alongside Jack Sock are perhaps just as impressive for a man who previously considered himself a “part-time” player. World number 32 Sebastian Baez is also enjoying the year of his young career so far, with a maiden ATP title won at the Estoril Open back in May. The 21-year-old is riding a four-match losing streak since finishing runner-up to Francisco Cerundolo at the Bastad Open last month and, whilst he is a promising talent across surfaces, he is likely to find an unbreakable force in Kyrgios. The fact that the Aussie won a title just two days ago is enough to tread cautiously, though, with an outright pick the sensible option here.
