21-year-old Sebastian Baez will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of at least 48th after coming back from a set down to beat Richard Gasquet on Friday. The Argentine prospect came back from a set down to beat Marin Cilic in the round of 16 and he deserves to break the top 50 for a first time on that achievement alone. Defending champion Albert Ramos-Vinolas enjoyed a comfortable match against Fernando Verdasco on Friday after two three-setters so far this campaign. The 34-year-old win the fourth ATP title of his career, all on clay, at the Cordoba Open earlier this season. Baez has already beaten Ramos-Vinolas twice this season to lead the Spaniard 2-0 in their head-to-head with a five-set slog at the Australian Open and a three-set semi-final at the Chile Open. All that evidence suggests taking the Argentine to win at least a set is the sensible move here but the youngster should be backed to take it outright on this week’s form.
