THE PREDICTION
Former world number 11 Sam Querrey is a different player on grass and especially at Wimbledon. The 34-year-old stunned Novak Djokovic here in 2016 on his way to the quarter-finals and then bettered that a year later with a stunning five-set victory over the defending champion Andy Murray on his way to the semi-finals. More recently the American beat Dominic Thiem and Andrey Rublev in 2019 before defeat to Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. Whilst his grass-court form this month has left much to be desired, Querrey can get his rhythm going at SW19 against Ricardas Berankis as he leads the Lithuanian 3-0 in their head-to-head record. Berankis’ last victory came back in February at the Dubai Tennis Championships and he is unlikely to threaten much on what is probably his weakest surface.
