THE PREDICTION
World number 64 Brandon Nakashima came back from a set down to beat fellow American Tommy Paul in three sets on Tuesday. The 20-year-old reached the quarter-finals of the Surbiton Challenger last week before defeat to Andy Murray and he faces another grass specialist next in world number 107 Sam Querrey. 34-year-old Querrey came through the qualifiers this week to beat Robin Haase in straight sets on Tuesday. The former world number 11 owns 10 ATP titles from a seasoned career, including one on grass at Queen’s Club back in 2010, but perhaps his best achievement was a run to the semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2017, where he beat the aforementioned Murray in five sets in the quarter-finals. This is a really tough call given Querrey’s effectiveness on this surface but Nakashima has impressed of late and he beat the elder American in straight sets in their only previous encounter. Back Nakashima to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors.
