THE PREDICTION

World number four Daniil Medvedev looks solid enough so far at the Astana Open after back-to-back straight-set wins over Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Emil Ruusuvuori but he faces a genuine blind spot next. World number 21 Roberto Bautista Agut leads the Russian 4-1 in their head-to-head record after most recently upsetting him as defending champion at the Mallorca Championships on grass this summer, although Medvedev had only recently got his first win on the board at Halle. 32-year-old RBA is also yet to drop a set in Astana after stunning eighth-seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round and he has beaten Medvedev in all three of their previous meetings on hardcourts. The Spaniard is clearly something of a bogey player for the Russian but Medvedev remains the just-about likelier to come through. Leave this head-scratcher out of an accumulator but back RBA to win at least a set after his performance against Auger-Aliassime.
