World number 82 Richard Gasquet is the surprise semi-finalist taking on Auger-Aliassime for a first time after ousting old foe David Goffin in straight sets. The 36-year-old is still clearly enjoying his tennis on tour and outlasting other veterans around him, with a three-set victory over Stan Wawrinka in the first round particularly impressive, and he has beaten top 10 opposition this season after stunning Daniil Medvedev at the Geneva Open on clay. Auger-Aliassime looks the solid favourite to make the final on Sunday but backing the Canadian to do so outright is the sensible call given Gasquet’s form.
