The 30-year-old enjoyed his best season on tour last year, breaking the top 50 for the first time, but time out for surgery made the first part of 2022 more about recovery than building on that. Duckworth fares a decent chance at making the quarter-finals in this winnable fixture against world number 86 Quentin Halys, although the Frenchman has already taken out an Aussie this week with a straight-sets result over Alexei Popyrin. Duckworth’s overall match fitness makes this a tricky call but a first win should see him come out fighting and backing him to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable victors seems the sensible call.
