THE PREDICTION

World number 14 Alexander Zverev reached the semi-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships last week before losing to Andreu Rublev but it was a hugely encouraging campaign as he continues his return from injury. The former world number two did some serious damage to his ankle in the semi-finals of Roland-Garros last summer and inly returned to the tour at the Australian Open in January but he has made strong progress so far and he should be considered a reasonable dark horse here in conditions that suit him. World number 66 Pedro Cachin did well to beat Nikoloz Basilashvili in straight sets on Wednesday but the Argentine has won just two of 10 matches so far this season and this will be a significantly tougher test. It is hard to back Zverev to the hilt just yet but take the German to win outright here as one of the most prolific on tour at Masters level.
