27-year-old Nick Kyrgios made a welcome return to the top 50 this month with a series of excellent runs on grass. The world number 40 lost in the Stuttgart Open semi-finals to Andy Murray and the Halle Open semi-finals to eventual champion Hubert Hurkacz before pulling out of the Mallorca Open early last week, with impressive results over the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Pablo Carreno Busta suggesting he could enjoy a deep run at Wimbledon. 22-year-old Paul Jubb set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 219th this week after some decent performances on grass this month, particularly at Queen’s where he took Botic van de Zandschulp to three sets before defeat. The Brit will be well-supported here as a severe underdog but it would be remarkable to see him take a set against this version of Kyrgios, let alone cause an upset. Former world number 13 Kyrgios’ game seems purpose-built to excel on grass and he could be a serious dark horse for the latter stages this fortnight. Back him to win in straight sets.
