World number 10 Ons Jabeur came back from a set down to beat Amanda Anisimova on Saturday in one of her many excellent performances this week in Charleston. The 27-year-old won her first and only WTA title to date at the Birmingham Classic last week on grass and perhaps she is at her best on green surfaces with the clay bringing the best out of her this week. World number 21 Belinda Bencic has taken out the tougher foes this week in Madison Keys, Paula Badosa and most recently Ekaterina Alexandrova. The former world number four’s sudden return to the kind of form she was displaying last summer is a welcome sight and a huge warning to the rest of the tour. It took Naomi Osaka to beat the 25-year-old in the semi-finals of the Miami Open last week and she was the winner of the only previous meeting between these two at the Madrid Open on clay. Back Bencic to win at least a set here as the likelier of two very capable winners.
