THE PREDICTION

Fourth seed Ons Jabeur is an excellent all-court player but her flashy playstyle certainly seems to suit the more specialist surfaces of clay and grass. The 27-year-old is yet to drop a set this week in Charleston but she will face her toughest foe yet in Anhelina Kalinina, who is in the form of her young career this season. The 25-year-old will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of at least 35th after shocking Elena Rybakina in the first round in three sets and backing that up with an assured performance against Alize Cornet on Thursday. Jabeur should be winning this first meeting in straight sets all told but Kalinina has deserved the respect of at least an outright pick for the Tunisian, if not taking Jabeur to win at least a set as the likelier of two very capable winners. This match should be left out of an accumulator.
