World number 64 Nuria Parrizas-Diaz reached the quarter-finals of the Granby Open this week before a straight sets defeat to eventual champion Daria Kasatkina, her fifth tour quarter-final of the season. The 31-year-old finally broke onto the tour last season after spending most of her career on the Challenger and ITF circuit, a remarkable improvement so late on, and despite losing to Serena Williams at the Canada Masters two weeks ago she will have gained plenty from the once-in-a-lifetime occasion. World number 91 Dalma Galfi is playing her first match back on tour since losing in the first round of the Hungarian Grand Prix last month and this looks a winnable fixture for Parrizas-Diaz. The Spaniard is well capable of taking this in straight sets but an outright pick is more sensible.
