THE PREDICTION

World number 10 Holger Rune came back from a set down to beat fellow rising star Ben Shelton on in the first round of the Acapulco Open, his first match back since an injury saw him retire in the round of 16 at the Rotterdam Open last month. The Dane is the last person on tour to have beaten Novak Djokovic after stunning the Serb from a set down at the Paris Masters last November and it may take some time for him to adjust to the new target on his back. 26-year-old Nuno Borges set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 85th after winning a Challenger event in Monterrey last week and he will move inside the top 80 for the first time after continuing that level in a straight-sets victory over Nick Chappell. That sort of momentum will be a tough force for Rune to stop but the 19-year-old should be better for an early test against Shelton. The suitably cautious call here is backing Rune to win outright.
