This is blockbuster tennis to be enjoyed on Saturday at the Astana Open between two former, and very recent, number ones in Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. 35-year-old Djokovic is riding a seven-match winning streak after ousting in-form Karen Khachanov in straight sets on Friday, with that streak also seeing the Serb not drop a set, whilst Medvedev overcame a real bogey opponent of his in Roberto Bautista Agut, conceding just two games to the Spaniard. The last three meetings between these two heavyweights have been finals on tour, with Djokovic taking two of them at the Australian Open and Paris Masters last year, although the most famous of them remains Medvedev’s stunning victory at the US Open around this time last year.
Five of the eight hardcourt meetings between the two have gone Djokovic’s way and indoors that number comes down to 2-1 in his favour.
