The 30-year-old came perilously close to an early exit as he edged it against Rosol with both players tying on 156 points won each, and another lengthy battle is likely here against Quentin Halys. The 25-year-old came back from a set down to oust fellow Frenchman Benoit Paire and he will face a similarly unpredictable, tetchy opponent here in a first meeting with Basilashvili.
