World number 78 Nick Kyrgios impressed in his first match back on tour since reaching the semi-finals of the Houston Open back in April, beating Czech prospect Jiri Lehecka in straight sets on Tuesday. The 27-year-old won the most recent of his six ATP titles at the Washington Open in 2019 but he has an excellent game for grass, famously stunning Rafael Nadal to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals as a teenager ranked 144th back in 2014. There are few, perhaps none, more unpredictable players on tour than Kyrgios and Nikoloz Basilashvili which makes for an entertaining clash on Thursday. World number 26 Basilashvili beat Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets on Wednesday, finishing off a rained off contest from the night before, but he faces a player with even bigger weapons than his notoriously powerful forehand.
Expect as many winners as unforced errors in a likely wayward match that Kyrgios should be able to come through. The Aussie won their only previous encounter comfortably at the 2017 Beijing Open.
