17-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 108th after reaching her first semi-final on tour via a straight-sets victory over Varvara Gracheva. The teenager is clearly on the rise towards challenging the top 40 next season as one of many new rising stars on the WTA tour, with her run to the Miami Open round of 16 on her tour debut a special precursor. Former world number 36 Nadia Podoroska will be a tough challenge, though, after the Argentine stopped Eugenie Bouchard’s run from a set down on Friday.
