27-year-old Ons Jabeur will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of second on Monday after winning the Berlin Open, her second WTA title on grass after winning her first at last season’s Birmingham Classic. The Tunisian put in a stunning campaign to win a first Masters title at the Madrid Open on clay back in May and after a disappointing early exit at Roland-Garros she will be determined to at least emulate her run to the quarter-finals here last season. Jabeur will face Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorkland next as the 23-year-old makes her Wimbledon debut. Bjorkland set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 123rd this week after some strong results on the ITF circuit but this should be too steep a climb. It is wise to wait for Jabeur to be confirmed fit to play but the world number three is a serious title-contender this fortnight and she can be backed to win in straight sets.
