THE PREDICTION
This could be a proper thriller on Saturday in a first meeting between in-form Miomir Kecmanovic and world number two Daniil Medvedev. 22-year-old Kecmanovic is set to break the top 30 for a first time after reaching the third round of Roland-Garros, coming back from a set down to beat Alexander Bublik on Thursday. Kecmanovic found form at the Australian Open after his original match with Novak Djokovic was rearranged and the Serb has not looked back since, with a run to the round of 16 in Melbourne backed-up by deep runs at Indian Wells, the Miami Open and the Serbia Open.
Meanwhile, Medvedev’s form peaked at the Australian Open where he lost in five sets to Rafael Nadal before missing out much of the last few months following a hernia operation. The 26-year-old is overachieving already at Roland-Garros after reaching the third round without dropping a set on a surface he vocally disagrees with. The Russian is the better player overall but this is an uneven playing field for his first encounter with Kecmanovic. Back both players to win at least a set and leave the winner up to chance here.
