Brandon Naksahima turns 21 today and the world number 61 has already achieved plenty on tour at such a young age, particularly for an American player. Skipping the well-trodden collegiate route looks to have paid off for Nakashima, with a recent run to the round of 16 at Wimbledon only just ended in a five-set thriller with eventual runner-up Nick Kyrgios and back-to-back finals reached on tour last season. One of those came here at Los Cabos, where Nakashima lost to Cam Norrie this time last year, and he looks set to push on from a straight sets victory over Kaichi Uchida on Tuesday in this winnable round of 16 clash with Max Purcell. World number 234 Purcell enjoys most of his success on the doubles circuit, with a huge run to the Wimbledon title alongside Matthew Ebden last month the pinnacle so far, but he has qualified well this week to beat Henri Laaksonen in three sets in the first round. Nakashima has impressed this season but he can still be shaky in matches he is expected to win, so backing the American to win outright seems a wise decision.
