Former world number six Matteo Berrettini beat fellow Italian Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets on Friday to claim three wins on the spin for the first time since making the round of 16 at Wimbledon last summer. The 27-year-old has been desperately seeking enough consistent fitness to return to tour life, ranked as he is currently outside of the top 130, and there are finally some encouraging signs. 23-year-old Mariano Navone must not be underestimated, though, as he continues an excellent breakthrough on tour with his second semi-final on the spin. The Argentine finished runner-up to Sebastian Baez at the Rio Open in February and he returned from injury this week to stun Stan Wawrinka before a comfortable result over Aleksandar Vukic on Friday. Berrettini will be elated with his progress so far but Navone is a hungry youngster with nothing to lose in this first encounter. Back the Argentine to snatch a set to leave the victor up to chance.
