World number 27 Martina Trevisan claimed her maiden WTA title at the Rabat Open back in May before a huge run to the semi-finals at Roland-Garros. The 28-year-old’s next-best run came in Paris too, losing to eventual champion Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals back in 2020. As one of the more clay-orientated players on tour she has yet to reach the third round at any of the other free majors.
THE PREDICTION
This looks a match to avoid after Trevisan pulled out of the Cleveland Championships last week after her first-round win over Mayar Sherif. The Italian faces 33-year-old Evgeniya Rodina coming in on a protected ranking after missing over three years on tour and the former world number 67 is a total anomaly right now. Trevisan should have enough win through but there is too big a chance of a default to warrant including this match in an accumulator.
