World number seven Coco Gauff got her Guadalajara Masters campaign underway with a solid straight-sets victory over Elisabetta Cocciaretto on Wednesday. The 18-year-old looks set to qualify for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles later this year alongside US number one Jessica Pegula, with whom she won the San Diego Open title last week. World number 28 Martina Trevisan is a pretty surprising round of 16 entrant here as the Italian usually struggles away from her favoured clay but a three-set victory over Katerina Siniakova is impressive fare. There could be a real sense of vengeance here for Trevisan after Coco Gauff beat her to the Roland-Garros final this summer with a comprehensive victory in the semi-finals but a first hardcourt meeting between the two is likely to favour the American pretty heavily. Back Gauff to win in two.
